inspiring

blog_fabricshop.jpg

twitter is becoming part of my daily routine and i found this inspiring story via a tweet from decor8. this store in north carolina called fabricpalooza looks lovely and they have an etsy business as well.

makes me want to thank my mom for teaching me to sew and for buying me my first (and current) sewing machine. thanks mom!

as some of you know, i am ranuncula obsessed and i loved holly’s post on her blog, decor8 about finding beauty in simple things…

oh etsy!

apron_blog.jpg

i’m powerless against etsy. i bought several goodies for myself today, some of which i’m trying to get for you guys too (stay tuned. i’m all for sharing you know). i ordered this apron named betsy and this was the lovey email i received from dottieangel:

hi megan,

just to let you know i will have betsy in the mail tomorrow (thursday)…it can take a while to get to canada if customs hold it, but with a bit of luck she will be with you sooner rather than later :)
please let me know that she arrives safely and thank you for giving her a good home :)

cheers
Tif

hey gardeners!

gardenblog.jpg

if you’re a great gardener like every woman in my family (except me) or more of a dabbler–check out the new collection of gardening tools from burgon & ball from england. beautiful gifts for the green thumb (or aspiring green thumb). rich and i have the misfortune of living next to people whose garden looks like it should be in a magazine. too bad they’re so nice, otherwise we would really hate them.

in the end

it’s not the space that counts, but the life you live in it.

i love this. stumbled on this via this pretty blog who found it on flickr.

as promised

look mom! some pics of the bunting flags i made yesterday. rich designed the type just for me, isn’t he sweet? actually he couldn’t bare the thought of me using something “stock” even if was a “good” one like clarendon…

the cherry blossoms on our street will be in full bloom soon. so pretty!

mix

we took the boys to spanish banks this morning and then headed to point grey where we discovered mix bakery. YUM! i had the roasted butternut w/ apple & coconut milk soup with some great bread and then somehow managed to down a lemon tartelette too.

also popped into the cloth shop (they stock amy butler’s prints–so pretty) and hit the $1.95 bin where i found some lovely fabric remnants that i turned into bunting flags for the shop. rich couldn’t understand how i could possibly need more fabric since i have enough to open a fabric store, but i put it in bike terms and he understood: “your pedals work fine. but sometimes you need some new pedals to get you stoked on riding.” it felt good to get out the sewing machine today. i promised my mom pics of what i made so they’ll be coming soon!

mike & the carrot

mikecarrotblog.jpg

remember the 5 foot carrot i made for the easter window display? well, i promised mike that he could play with it when it came down and so i carried the carrot home and gave it him on the porch. he proceeded to carry the giant carrot inside (which was hilarious because it was in between his legs and he had to walk funny not to step on it) and then he jumped up on the couch and wasn’t quite sure what to do next…

30 rocks

tracyblog.jpg

tracy morgan (as tracy jordan) makes me laugh so hard no sound even comes out. do you guys watch 30 rock?! here are a few fantastic lines from mr. jordan:

From “Secrets and Lies”:

Getting exasperated with assistants Grizz and Dot Com: “Where are the french fries I did not ask for? You guys need to anticipate me!”

From “Jack-tor”:

After Liz erroneously accuses him of illiteracy: “I can’t read! I sign my name with an X! I once tried to make mashed potatoes with laundry detergent! I think I voted for Nader! NADER!”

From “Jack the Writer”:

Giving advice to Kenneth: “Live every week like it’s Shark Week.”
