my friend sent me a link to this website (geoff, i had no idea you were such a knitta) and from there I discovered jo’s.

i’ve never been to austin, but in my mind it’s a pretty cool place. and everyone who’s been there says i would like it (and everyone can’t be wrong, right?)

if you’re wondering why i haven’t planted the window boxes at the shop, it’s because i’m looking at pretty pictures on the interweb instead. love these letterpress candles from bee & bird (which I discovered via uppercase’s blog today).

i’m a big fan of ampersands.

sprung

springsprung.jpg

spring has sprung and that means some SERIOUS spring cleaning ’round here. i’m not kidding, argie and i both required band-aids today, proof that we are literally working our fingers to the bone. dust bunnies beware! stay tuned for a big web update with new shop pics too! (soon. promise!)

hi.

blog_hi.jpg

lots of things have changed over the years at Room6. but from the very first day we opened (which will be SIX years this may) we’ve had this exact same “hi” vinyl sticker on the door.

poppyseed bundt cake

psbundt1.jpg

this is one of my favorite cakes to make. (come to think of it, it’s pretty much the only cake i make.)

combine 1/4 c poppy seeds & 1 cup buttermilk, let sit for 15-20 min

cream together 1-1/2 cup sugar & one cup butter. add 4 eggs one at a time beating well after each.

sift together and then add 2-1/2 cup flour, 1 teaspoon baking soda & 2 teaspoons baking powder

in a separate little bowl mix together 1/4 cup brown sugar and 3/4 teaspoon cinnamon

grease & flour bundt pan & put 2/3 batter it it. then add the brown sugar/cinnamon mixture and swirl it in the batter & then add the remaining 1/3 batter on top.

bake for 50 minutes @ 350°

cool for 15 minutes before taking it out of the pan*

*that’s what my mom’s recipe says but i usually turn it over and eat a piece IMMEDIATELY. (sorry mom)

new shoes!

clogs.jpg

i’m ordering these lovelies for fall (along with some other fabulous swedish hasbeen styles), but in the meantime, i *needed* these and was lucky to find them locally at umeboshi shoes (a great little shoe boutique in vancouver.) go there soon if you’d like a pair, they are selling quickly. the sandals are oh so pretty too!

this stamp set reminds me of the proper tea party.

sweet, sensible & civilized.

but speaking of tea parties, did you catch tina fey as sarah palin on SNL?
