time

timeon.jpg

does not seem to be on my side lately. every morning i plan to update this blog but before i know it a week has passed. argie and i are trying to keep up with the unpacking and website updating…but we’ve fallen behind and every day we receive more goodies…

plus, i may have let some of you in on a little secret that we’re in the midst of launching our very own line of Room6 exclusive products and that’s been keeping us extra busy. (i’m trying to convince myself that sleep is overrated. but it’s not.)

AND, we have to get all our spring/summer orders in very soon otherwise there will be no sandals come spring. so while i’m personally dreaming of cozy toques…i have to wrap my feeble mind around cute sundresses.

AND of course there’s the holidays and this year will be the best yet! (believe it or not, i’ve been shopping for the holidays all year. me. the world’s worst planner. actually planning.)

AND my dad & step-mom are coming for a visit tomorrow.

if only i could teach mike & auggie (dog babies) to vacuum.

anyhoo, i’m not complaining…i strangely enjoy chaos.

i could just use a little (okay a lot) more time…

colour your kitchen

this morning i decided that our new window display (and homepage on room6.com) would be themed: COLOUR YOUR KITCHEN. argie is used to me popping down to the shop to say, “let’s hang 50 spatulas from the window”…so this will come as no surprise to her. the danish collection of rice products is just so bright & happy and today is so grey & rainy…it’s perfect! assuming our spatula mission goes well, i’ll take some pics later on…BTW: the rice collection is lovely!

upon further inspection*

chives.jpg

i’ve realized the chives are also dead. i mistook them for the grass that has set up shop in the last remaining herb garden pot.

*this would make more sense if you reading this after the next post, but that’s not how this blogging thing works.

killing thyme

happysucculens.jpg

the chives are the sole survivors in my summer outdoor herb garden experiment. apparently no amount of woeful neglect can kill chives.

i did manage to murder the basil…and the rosemary…and the thyme (which a customer pointed out can survive “almost anything”).

oh yes, there was dill too.

dead.

in happier news, i had great luck with the succulents i planted in the window boxes at the shop–they’re HUGE. all the hens laid chicks and i’ve even tried replanting some. will my success with succulents streak continue?? … stay tuned!

i couldn’t help it

while i should have been doing a million other things today…i decided i *needed* to plant these little succulents and bright pink, yellow & red cacti. they’re all in sweet vintage containers and they’re all for sale starting tomorrow. last time these little gems went pretty quickly. (i’m secretly hoping no one buys them so i can bring them all home though.)

we’ve been slammed with shipments this week. which is awesome. except when you start having dreams of breaking down cardboard and nightmares of being buried alive in the cardboard recyling bin.

the good news is that there are so many amazing new special things…and today (wed) i plan to have a day long photoshoot to get lots of the beautiful new products online.

and it looks like it’s going to be a gorgeous fall day for picture taking. stay tuned!

(these scarves are amazing…available in lots of scrumptious colours. handmade by uniform natural in minnesota.)

corked colour

yo_colourfun.jpg

when i saw these colour wheel necklaces from yellow owl workshop (in san fran) i knew one had to be mine! well, today we received a new order of yellow owl goodness.

so i’m pretty excited to open up the box.

and when i do…

i discover the colour wheel necklaces come in little glass tubes.

with corks!

OMG.

they are capital A Awesome!

my friend just emailed me to let me know the new orla housewares (exclusive to heal’s in london) are online.

i would like one of each, please. the casserole dishes would work perfectly with my vintage pyrex. (sigh)

the good news is that we do have lots of gorgeous orla kiely mugs and we have some new mug designs on the way too!

da bomb

dabomb.jpg

file this under: reasons i love fall…

i would normally never refer to anything as “da bomb” (unless i was joking or hoping to be made fun of) but in this case, these shoes are actually called BOMB.

this is the third season of wearing these shoes and they’re as good as new (even better actually). i would like to personally blame (and then thank) amy from olie who came into my shop years ago wearing these trippens.

april rain update

april_sept.jpg

april_sept2.jpg

i sent along a donation to help with april rain’s care (and all the other amazing dogs at angel’s animal rescue in merritt, BC) and they sent a thank you note along with an update and some pictures.

april rain (the dog that was subjected to unspeakable cruelty by her owner) is doing great! they say she just needs to gain a bit more weight before finding her forever home, but look at her swimming! yay angel’s animal rescue! yay april rain!
