i have a crush on

toronto artist alanna cavanagh and i’m coveting this print for my office.

i’m lucky to receive lots of product submissions, and this week i connected with alanna via email after a customer told her that we needed to meet. thank you whoever you are for introducing us!

stay tuned as i’m working on bringing some of her lovely art to deep cove.

preview…

received an order of handmade jewelry from the netherlands yesterday. the designer combines this gorgeous floss with sterling silver to create her signature tassels. the parcel arrived yesterday and i sat at the front desk admiring the pretty little things before becoming the first Room6 customer. tassel earrings, necklaces & bracelets will be online this week! (really!)

new old favorites

last night i rediscovered some of my favorite collections from years past. i love everything i buy for the shop so sometimes i have to be careful about re-ordering the same things over and over again-because even though they’re special & lovely, they’re not new to you guys.

but sometimes after a break, the artist/designer comes up with all new special things and off i go: add to cart! add to cart!

i’m gonna be like a kid in a candy store in a few weeks time when all these goodies start showing up.

how great is this print?

lisa hannigan

i’ve never been a live music person, mostly because i don’t enjoy crowds. however, the media room in vancouver only seats 150 people & lisa hannigan is performing there on october 6. i wonder if she’ll bring the pop-up book?  (thanks fiona!)

curator arrivals

now that summer has finally arrived in deep cove, our fall clothing is showing up too! received our first order from curator including this delphine top in grey/black and it comes in a pretty grey blue too. i know i sound like a broken record, but i’m trying to start getting fall clothing online next week.

confession

i’ve never made jam. shameful, really.

shot in hood river, OR when i went blueberry eating (& some picking, but mostly eating)

new arrivals from nightowl

yesterday we received a box of goodies from nightowl papergoods in alabama. lots of new cards (some letterpress, some wooden and some hybrid) and how cute are these new “happy birthday” banners?! i strung one up in the shop yesterday and it’s instant happiness. even if it’s nobody’s birthday.

yesterday rich and i celebrated our 9th (ninth?!) wedding anniversary and i gave him the “you’re the cheese” card. that’s saying a lot coming from a girl from the dairyland state.

nine times. couldn’t get the ferris bueller’s day off line out of my head. now, i share it with you. happy wednesday!

megspresso

rich named my current coffee of choice the megspresso. i was on a french press kick for a couple of years but i’ve recently switched back to using our espresso machine- partly due to the fact that i broke my little bodum french press, but also because i like to change things up every once in awhile.

speaking of coffee and mornings, i’m excited to check out marche´st. george in vancouver which one of my lovely customers told me about. thanks c!

has anyone been? their blog is lovely and it seems like they’re really passionate about what they’re doing. i’ll report back soon!

birdwatch in multi

this is the newest fall print from orla kiely (shown in my favorite dorothy bag). so pretty!

new erin templeton

i popped over to chinatown yesterday and picked up lots of great new bags from erin templeton. we have several recycled TGIF’s, good girls, small & medium totes and a new style called the city mama which keeps jumping onto my arm. it’s like it’s trying to tell me that i should have it or something.

both erin and her colleague dawn are city mama owners and they rave about this bag. you can wear it across your chest, over one shoulder or even as a backpack. the straps are padded and comfy and my favorite part…it zips! $395
