the boys

auggie is our little inspector. he goes through life pointing out safety violations (there are many) and with one glance, you know you’ve received another F. fail!

have you seen mike? he’s not small, but he thinks he’s a teeny-tiny lap dog. and this costume might seem simple, but did you know that there are no thrift stores open on sundays in north vancouver? so we went to value village and most of canada was there buying halloween costumes.

happy halloween!

i’m pretty sure if auggie & mike could speak, they’d say something like, “halloween can’t be over soon enough. we hate fireworks, we don’t understand people acting scary or wearing masks and we’ll never understand why megan & rich think it’s the funniest thing ever when they put costumes on us. but because we’re such good sports, we’ve agreed to let megan take our picture in our halloween costumes later today.”

birdwatch on bleubird

i know it might seem like orla kiely is raining from the sky lately…in september i hosted my first-ever orla kiely giveaway here (for the oval stem wallet) and it was so much fun i decided to partner with some lovely bloggers to host giveaways on their blogs too. they were meant to be spread out…but sometimes (or in my world, normally) things don’t go as planned. but it’s all good! it’s been great getting to meet nice people (virtually anyway) and to see our beloved cove on these popular blogs. *gush*

i don’t want any of you lovely room6 blog readers to miss out on the chance to win the pretty-pretty-birdwatch tote over at bleubird. james knew her readers would love it and victoria over at sfgirlbybay knew her readers would love it as well. so there you have it, it’s official, there’s a whole lot o’ orla love out there.

and don’t forget to leave a comment here to be entered to win a $100 Room6 gift certificate to be used towards anything that makes your heart go pitter patter.

happy friday! i hope you win!

update oct.31: hi everyone! please make sure you leave a comment below the orla & victoria post to enter to win the $100 Room6 gift certificate. the comments on this post are lovely, but not part of the giveaways. thanks!

got any ideas for mike & auggie?

i’m still wondering what to do for the boys costumes this year. i’ve got some ideas but executing those ideas is, as usual, not so easy. can you imagine making the headless horseman costume? that dog has hoofs for crying out loud.

recycled

new (in a recycled sorta way) one-of-a-kind handbags from vancouver’s own erin templeton. medium tote shown.

as erin says,

“There are lots of good reasons to lean towards recycled leather bags, each piece is one of a kind, lovingly handmade, just as strong (sometimes stronger!) as new leather, and for every bag made, there is one less pair of leather pants in the world.”

welcome home

next time you visit, check out our new street banners (this is big news ’round here.) thanks to deep cove artist & resident charles van sandwy for creating the artwork & to everyone in our little community who organized & participated in the fundraiser!

happy

fiona and i are settling into a nice routine (i think? i hope? fiona?!) and monday’s have become my photoshoot days. i know monday’s get a bad wrap sometimes, but it’s become one of my favorite days of the week. today i’ve been working on some top-secret holiday stuff and also getting all the new happy socks photographed & online. also managed to sneak in a hike with the boys on this stellar fall day in the cove. hope you guys had a nice weekend!

and the bats…

awake…

and asleep…

these little maileg bats are about 21cm (8″) tall and are two-sided…so one side is sleeping and the other side is awake. their little bat feet have tiny magnets on the inside so they can easily hang-out with (or without) you. as usual they aren’t online yet, but if need one for your little goblin just send me an email and i’ll put one aside. xo

update: the bats are now online.
