this buttery soft chan luu modal/cashmere blend scarf is light as a feather and it has dots. hello fall.
blush crush
i’m sorta obsessed with the colour blush lately. we have only one blush (the lovely curator gals call it “rose beige”) ukiah left in size small (it appears i’m not alone.)
update: sold out, sorry! we still have a few lovely curator arden tops though :)
cecilia
after being stuck in customs somewhere for quite some time, i was more than a little excited when our latest batch of curator from san fran appeared this week. we have the best-selling buttery soft organic cotton cecilia top in three great colours as well as the ukiah (not yet online, sorry) in three great colours. happy friday! xox (image from curator)
october schedule
after consultation with friends of Room6*, i’ve decided to modify the shop schedule, just for the month of october. i really need some time to catch up & clean-up before the holidays (will we still be friends if i tell you just how long it’s been since i’ve properly scrubbed the floors in the shop?)
the holidays are a fun and crazy time ’round here, but if i run out of shopping bags one more time after 8 years of doing this, i just might lose it. in an attempt to avoid any unattractive meltdowns, i’m going to do things differently next month.
the shop will be closed from october 2 – 9. online orders placed during this time, will begin mailing out on october 10.
for the rest of the month of october, i’ll be closed on monday and tuesday while the lovely fiona is back in scotland with family. wish fiona a bon voyage!
the other thing is that i’m going to try my best (like trying to win the 3-legged race in grade 4 kinda try) to be open at 10:00 on Wed-Sat rather than 11:00. this is probably only funny to those of you who know how difficult it is for me to make it in by 11. hey, i’m trying to turn over a new leaf.
in summary, october hours are:
closed october 2 -9, then open
10:00 – 6:00 wed/thur/fri/sat (closed monday/tuesday)
12:00 – 5:00 sunday
in november & december we’ll be open 24 hours a day.**
*if i’m being a glass-and-a-half-of-wine-honest™, there are moments when i question what i’m doing. and then one of you pops into the shop, or sends me a note and i feel like i’m doing what i should be doing. room6 exists for you, but it only continues to exist because of you. thank you.
**this is a joke. please do not come to deep cove at 3:00AM on a wednesday for an orla kiely mug.
deep cove love
i’m not the only one hearting deep cove as these little “i heart deep cove” keychains (12. each) sold out quickly. i’ll be hitting up the lovely & local andrea wong for some more (we still have some with deep cove minus the “i heart” part). i adore deep cove and i’m a very lucky girl to live and work here. if you’d like a keychain the next time around, just pop me an email or better yet, pop down to the shop. xox
bathroom reno
we’re redoing our tiny ensuite bathroom and bob (contractor/handyman extraordinaire) found these honeycomb/helix tiles that i just love! and i found a vintage cast iron clawfoot tub (i’ve dreamt of a having a clawfoot tub since i can remember) on craigslist and we’re going to check it out tomorrow. bring on the cast iron! (says the girl who will not be carrying it down our 47 steep stairs and then back up a bunch more in a tiny awkward hallway.)
…but back to the tile…i’m leaning towards a grey grout since white grout will eventually turn grey anyway…but what do you guys think? has anyone had any experience/feedback with grout colours on white tile?
new special things
locally made tropical terrariums in adorable vintage containers from andrea wong
new prints from banquet, designed & printed in vancouver
scrumptious chocolate bars, handmade in vancouver by beta 5. crunchy, salty and dark.
dani press
awhile back i received a typed (on a real typewriter) letter from dani of dani press and it totally made my day. dani told me how much she liked room6 and how she hoped her locally made cards would be a nice fit in our card catalogue. she had me at “dear megan”…yesterday i received the first batch of cards and they’re great. thanks dani!
