winter in the cove
new glassybaby
today when i open up shop, there will be all new glassybaby muses. i could spend the entire day (and then some) playing with colour. here are some of the lovely new arrivals.
i’m so proud to be part of glassybaby, to date, they’ve donated over one million dollars to cancer related charities and organizations.

new arrivals
a friend came in wearing one of these sweet & tiny banners from pyrrha (the photo is enlarged to show detail) and i just loved it. we have several different styles in stock in both sterling and bronze, as well as several of their iconic wax seals. the banners are $99.
shown above: Omnia Vincit Amor which means Love Conquers All in Latin

new from filou
the bronze acorns and pinecones were a hit and thankfully fiona was able to make a few more for us just in time for the holidays…we also have the popular feather necklace back in stock in silver and the new bronze on goldfill chain. sorry the bronze isn’t online yet, but if you’d like one let me know.
stripes are nice
these striped taper candles ($29/set) are stunning and would make the perfect hostess/host gift. the colours are vibrant and they’re virtually drip-less and smoke-less. one of my lovely friends & clients suggested filling a mason jar with sand as a candle holder…simple and pretty.

ken diamond
we have some lovely (yet manly), locally handmade leathergoods from ken diamond in our shop (and online).
one day i had two separate clients say, “you should stock ken diamond’s collection in your shop.” one thing led to another, and after a visit to ken’s vancouver studio, we do! (i want to steal his dog, mona.)
the word “timeless” gets thrown around a lot, but this collection is just that and will only get better with age.

the mice are back!
krystal speck
sometimes in all the holiday craziness i don’t get to properly introduce new-to-us artists & designers. we’ve recently received some lovely work from ontario-based krystal speck. she and heather (aka dahlhaus) did a show together this summer and i was instantly smitten with krystal’s work (and of course i’m already a huge dahlhaus fan). none of krystal’s work has made its way online yet (sorry), but in store we have sweet bud vases (above $40/each), tumblers and larger vases. welcome to the cove krystal! xox
merry covemouse
do you guys remember how i was going to build a teepee for the shop? and how it didn’t go well because there were structural integrity issues and i didn’t think it would be cool to tell kids (or grown-ups) that they couldn’t actually go in the teepee?
if at first you don’t succeed…
make bunting!
i decided to turn the painter’s canvas that was originally destined to become the teepee “walls” into bunting flags, because as you know, there’s no such thing as too much bunting.
bunting + sails + stencils = advent calendar. with mice and a ship of course.
i found the ship on craigslist…which has led to a new obsession with model ships. stay tuned for megan’s mini-marine shop, opening 2013.
the “merry covemouse” banner was also part of the ill-fated teepee canvas, painted with left-over chalkboard paint because when i have a wet paint roller, nothing is safe.
i found the vintage rope in vancouver at union wood company, which reminds me, i still owe them money for it. i’m pretty sure they think i’m a lunatic. (you try explaining to someone that you’re having a vintage rope emergency.) i felt like the SNL target lady with the rope in hand.
