i adore this stunning candle collection. so much care goes into each candle and the beautiful packaging (hand printed belgian linen).

home office reno

another home project started. one of these days i’m actually going to finish and then post some “after” pics. can i tell you how satisfying it was to remove the laminate floor and chuck it out the window? i painted the sub-floor in the short-term but i’m dreaming of putting down some reclaimed real wood. i love a project.

yesterday on seymour

down in the cove we’re starting to see signs of spring, but up on seymour it’s a winter wonderland.

hello gorgeous

love this new teal gradient scarf from tilo.

bulb project & other updates

if you were following my bulb project, the paperwhites have come and gone and i’m still hoping the hyacinth decide to bloom. today a couple lovely folks dropped by the shop to check up on me since this blog has been quiet lately. (i was flattered to learn they visited this little spot on the interweb). truth be told, i’ve been a busy girl and haven’t been spending much time online these days. i have a few too many projects on the go at the moment, but i aim to devote some time to this website this week. hope your week is going well. xox

olla @ room6

stunning, contemporary orchid arrangement $60

a modern twist on a classic. these long stem roses are fair trade. $80/dozen (rose prices are at their peak this time of year!)

a lovely garden bouquet. $40. this one’s my favorite…simple & sweet.

the story of how olla @ room6 came to be…

it was a dark and stormy night…

i found myself in gastown and wandered upstairs on cambie to olla urban flower project. i was instantly smitten with the space and the warm welcome. what started as a mission to find some houseplants turned into a new relationship with megan (yes, another megan!) and her team at olla. we’re now stocking some lovely plants and terrariums and for valentine’s, we’re taking pre-orders for these gorgeous arrangements. olla sources only fair trade and whenever possible, local flowers and plants. the space at olla is a dream…worn wooden floors, huge windows with old glass and everywhere you look there’s something pretty begging to come home with you.

here’s how the valentine flowers work…pre-order by number…1, 2 or 3 by tuesday, february 12. the arrangements will be very similar but not exactly what’s shown. the flowers do not come with vases, but if you’d like to add one please let me know. otherwise, the flowers will be wrapped in kraft paper. i’ll be picking up our order from gastown very early on february 14, so you can pick up your lovely arrangement anytime on valentine’s day from 11-6 at Room6 in the cove. there are three arrangements suited to different styles and budgets and they’re all going to be amazing.

thank you olla! xox

salt & pepper

rifle paper company cards, perfect for your valentine.

and one of our new arrivals from the lovely crew at olla urban flower project in gastown. is it weird to name plants? ‘cuz i can’t seem to help myself. i’m so excited about having olla in the shop and i can’t wait to show you the gorgeous arrangements megan (we’re both megan) and her crew put together for us for valentine’s day. more soon. xox
