i rode by bike around vancouver for a few hours yesterday. (before you go getting too impressed…i didn’t ride all the way to/from the cove–i cheated & drove across the second narrows bridge and parked at new brighton park.)
biking (or walking) is such a great way to see a city and yesterday i played tourist. rode through gastown to the check out the olympic caldron:

then rode up to granville & robson streets because i had to take advantage of riding on streets with no cars allowed. waited in line with the rest of the tourists at japadog (street vendor @ the corner of smithe & burrard) and had a veggie teramayo–sounds weird, (veggie dog with wasabi mayo, seaweed and teriyaki sauce), but tastes good:

headed to yaletown and rode around there for a bit, then headed across the cambie street bridge. sort of by mistake, but when you start heading over a bridge there’s no u-turning. got to the other side and headed back. there’s a super view of the olympic village & science world from the cambie street bridge:

rode around downtown for a bit longer (mostly people watching and trying to avoid being hit by a bus) and then headed back to new brighton and was home, showered and at the shop around 2.
sore bum today? yup. but well worth it.

sometimes the sweetest little teacup & saucer meets the sweetiest little bracelet and it makes me real happy. biko (made in toronto) will be online soon.

unpacked a box of ceramics from cathy (aka horn of plenty) and i’m in luv….here’s a peek! all these lovelies will be online tomorrow!
mike and auggie were the belles of the ball downtown today. i like to think it’s just them (because they’re so darn sweet & perfect), but i think the maple leaf scarves may have helped garner some attention.

rich got me the prettiest, happiest bouquet of flowers for valentine’s from flower factory.

the north shore version of the polaroid shoe shot…

& some from etsy too…

is coming down our street tomorrow (around 10:30am). argie and i made some sweet vintage inspired canada pennant flags (modeled by the mayor). and some scarves for the monster factory dolls (modeled by todd, colin and maggie).

we’re also sewing some little medals for the tree outside:

the olympics are pretty controversial ’round these parts…some people love ‘em, some people hate ‘em, some people don’t care either way and a lot of folks are getting out of dodge.
i know lots of kids in the cove are really stoked for tomorrow and for the olympics so i’m trying to see things through their eyes. for tomorrow, at least.
