neworla.jpg

well, it’s official. i’ve been a slacker in the blog updating department lately. i didn’t even get to tell you guys about how i got to meet orla kiely at her offices in london! i was soooo star-struck. she’s as fabulous as i imagined her to be and all the gals in the office were super sweet.

you guys know i’m a HUGE orla fan (not in a “call the police megan is bothering me again” sort of way), more like i just love pretty much every single thing she designs.

anyhoo, imagine my excitement when the first batch of Fall* bags arrived on friday! here’s a sneak peak of the new print…we’ll have them online real soon.

and speaking of next week, rich and the boys and i are heading to tofino for a few days. i. can’t. wait. LOVE LOVE LOVE TOFINO.

*i requested an early ship date for these bags. don’t let the “f” word scare you. it’s not Fall. it’s summer. and hopefully summer sticks around for a good long while.

polenta.jpg

one of the yummiest cakes i’ve ever had from ottolenghi in london. flourless cake with polenta, pistachios and lemon. put ottolenghi on your list of “must eats” in london. AH-Mazing.

i’m feeling much better after a couple good sleeps and good thing because my mom is in town for a visit. and today is her birthday! we started the day with a private shopping spree at Room6 & now we’re heading to stanley park for a walk with the boys. and then coming home to make macarons! before heading out to eat dinner. yesterday we had lunch at vij’s rangoli on the way back from the airport & it was delicious.

do you see a theme here? we love to eat!

since i’m not sure when i’ll get a chance to recap my whirlwind visit to ireland & england, i figured i highlight some of my favorite things whenever i get a chance. this lunch was really memorable for me, eaten on the stoop of a fancy schmancy home in london.

jet. lag.

i always have the fantasy of looking fabulous when i travel, but comfort wins especially when you’re walking 8+ hours a day. i plan to look respectable when i head to orla kiely’s office, but otherwise it’s sneakers/barbour/backpack/skinny jeans for me (don’t worry, no track pants).

and i’m sure i’ll have my camera around my neck a lot too and nothing screams TOURIST like a camera around your neck. that, and consulting a map. did i mention i can’t read maps? thankfully i bought a data plan for my iphone so i can beg google maps for help in a pinch.

2 more days in the shop. 2 more sleeps. and then i’m off!

i’ve been dreaming of going to dublin & london for years. and years. i feel lucky to have traveled throughout europe, asia & north america but for some reason i’ve never made it to the UK (or dublin). so my friend sheila and i decided we would go.

ON SUNDAY.

FOR A WEEK.

so i’m scrambling to prepare myself for this little trip. it’s BUSINESS of course! i’m heading to orla kiely’s offices & shop in london and I’ll be hand-picking our Fall blankets and other lovelies from Avoca in ireland. I CAN’T WAIT!

the poppies are napping

poppysleeping.jpg

we’re having a rainy spell in vancouver. i really love the rain and i especially love rainy walks in deep cove. yesterday i took mike swimming (he doesn’t care if it’s raining) and we had the whole beach to ourselves.  and today i’ll take the boys for a long hike in the drizzle. in our raincoats. which are all green. don’t get me wrong, i love sunny days, but vancouver wouldn’t be vancouver without the rain. and the poppies need their beauty rest for a long, hot summer ahead.
