new stripes

yesterday we received an order of buttery soft bamboo in three great styles. there’s the dolman-sleeve top (on gracie, the mannequin), a simple tee and a tank-style tunic (not shown). i love the new thin stripe and this is easy care fabric that you’ll want to live in.

yes.

a new shipment of bone china (made in scotland) mugs is here! orla kiely mugs are back in stock too! i really like this one. $16/each.

new arrivals

just popping in for a quick update! things are a little crazy ’round here with the lovely fiona being out (she’s recovering from back surgery and feeling loads better and says hello!) but we’ve been getting lots of fabulous new arrivals this week including these gorgeous silk circle scarves and i’m aiming for a big website update tomorrow. stay tuned! xox

city sunday

rich and i took the boys into vancouver yesterday for some japadog, sunny rollers in the grass (note the rare, double inversion) and then came home and did some serious yard work. it’s a drizzly monday morning in the cove and i’ve got lots (& lots) of plans for today–hope you had a nice weekend!

ps: i may have come home with these new shoes too. they danced right onto my feet.

paris in color

we have a pretty new book called paris in color from nichole robertson who writes the little brown pen blog. ahhhh paris…i can almost taste these macarons again…and remember my mom saying, “GET OUT OF THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD!” (i’ll stop anywhere for a picture). happy friday everyone!

rainy night

wait, it’s thursday? where has this week gone? i worked late at the shop last night and on my walk home this tree (not sure what kind it is, but it’s the gorgeous kind) stopped me in my tracks. the birds were singing, the rain was falling…

sunday morning scones

i baked some maple scones before work this morning which were mostly a gift for a friend (along with the weeds/flowers from my garden), but rich and i managed to sample them first. you know, to make sure they tasted okay. i didn’t have any turbinado sugar nor did i know what turbinado sugar was, but i try not to let things like that stop me.

the recipe is from the newish-to-me food blog called 101 cookbooks which i love! fiona bought me heidi’s cookbook for my birthday and it’s full of great recipes & beautiful photos.

uppercase

our little shop was featured on the lovely uppercase blog today as a featured stockist. we love uppercase! thanks erin (uppercase’s blog editor), you can come visit us anytime :)

hamper action photo

we just received more hampers & tea towels from the lovely pehr duo in toronto today. our first order flew out the door, apparently a good hamper is hard to find. i love mine (mike is unimpressed.)

new arrivals

these sweet mobiles from sylvie of montreal-based “the butter flying” are adorning our window and making me happy today. these make a lovely shower gift, although i don’t think clouds or raindrops have an age limit. online soon!
