Mother Nature has been creating “zero waste” for billions of years and indigenous cultures have lived sustainably for tens of thousands of years. Zero waste is certainly not a new concept.
“In the indigenous world view, we believe that the land, the water and the environment is what sustains all life. We simply can’t continue with rampant exploitation of the land, because there are consequences - global warming, climate change.” - Grand Chief Stewart Phillip
The goal isn’t to run out and buy new things so you can reduce your impact (that makes zero sense, right?) - use what you have and shop second-hand before buying something new.
We do stock a few new items (like these reusable make-up pads that are made in Canada from organic materials), but we want to make sure we all stay focused on the “saving the planet” mission!
Zero Waste is the conservation of all resources by means of responsible production, consumption, reuse, and recovery of products, packaging, and materials without burning, and with no discharges to land, water, or air that threaten the environment or human health. - Zero Waste International Alliance
