Local, seasonal, organic.
Pesticides, fossil fuels, and plastic aren’t top of mind when purchasing flowers, but there’s definitely a lot more to the international commercial flower industry than meets the eye.
The “slow flower” movement aims to transform the industry and we have some incredibly hardworking slow growers right here in the Lower Mainland.
The organic eucalyptus was grown in Delta, BC (thanks River & Sea!) and the pretty pink vase (from potter, Maggie Boyd) has tulips from my garden and organically grown ranunculus from Earth Candy on Salt Spring Island.
Local flowers and foliage will be making their triumphant return this Spring!
